    Simple Samba setup stopped working since update

    My Samba server is CentOS 6.4 with samba-3.6.9-151

    I have shared a directory called /MEDIA which I'm trying to mount via mount.cifs on a Fedora machine and also on a Windows 7 machine.

    I want the share to be freely accessible from any device without needing passwords. I did have this working but fine the samba server was updated it stopped working. What I'm getting on the Fedora client when using mount.cifs is:

    Code:
    mount error(13): Permission denied
    Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
    And on the samba server:

    [2013/04/02 09:42:04.162440, 0] smbd/sesssetup.c:1343(reply_sesssetup_and_X)
    reply_sesssetup_and_X: Rejecting attempt at SPNEGO session setup when it was not negotiated.

    My smb.conf is very simple and looks like this:
    Code:
    [global]
            netbios name = SHANKAR
            socket address = 192.168.1.1
            server string = MEDIA Server
            guest account = nfsnobody
    [media]
            browseable = yes
            hide dot files = no
            writeable = yes
            public = yes
            guest ok = yes
            guest only = yes
            create mode = 644
            path = /MEDIA
    I can access from Fedora using smbclient but not mount.cifs. Windows complains about a wrong username and password. I've been bashing my head for hours trying to figure why this isnt working anymore so any help would be appreciated!

    Nope nothing like that, after much googling and pulling my hair out, the problem is something to do with NTLM authentication is this version of samba. security = share is deprecated so I changed to security = user and created a user called nfsnobody. My smb.conf now looks like this and everything is working as before

    Code:
    [global]
            netbios name = SHANKAR
            socket address = 192.168.1.1
            server string = MEDIA Server
            guest account = nfsnobody
            map to guest = bad user
            log level = 9
            log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
            username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
            null passwords = yes
    [media]
            browseable = yes
            hide dot files = no
            writeable = yes
            public = yes
            guest ok = yes
            guest only = yes
            create mode = 644
            path = /MEDIA
