    Securing & Scaling Linux Servers

First question on the forums. Great resource.

Working on a scalable server configuration in Amazon EC2.

    Amazon Instance with
    /mnt/xvdf - Ubuntu OS
/mnt/xvdg - additional volume with app data

    2nd instance with
    /mnt/xvdf - Ubuntu OS
/mnt/xvdg - additional volume with MySql

    2 questions

    1) Where should Apache or Nginx go? /mnt/xvdg or /mnt/xvdf?

    2) If only one app will be hosted on this server and the database resides on a different server, is there any point to use containers (LXC) or anything greater than chroot?

    Thanks in advance.

Whichever has enough space, or attach another EBS volume for that purpose - it would be mounted on /mnt/xvdh most likely.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
