    /etc/default/password


    hi,
    We are planning to change the /etc/defaults/passwd
    encryption method from md5 to sha512,

    1)if we do that needs to restart any services kind
    2) once it has changed will that get impacted for /etc/passwd users for login.

    For users, I suspect it will impact them. The hash between sha512 and md5 are very different. They may be able to reset their passwords, but you may need to do it for them.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
