Postfix Setup

Hi. I'm trying to run postfix on my server (ruby.xxxxxxx.com ) I have never run a mail server before. I'm fairly sure that I have unpacked/installed postfix correctly. I made the approprate MX entry on my DNS server. When I send mail to capncrunch@xxxxxxx.com it does not bounce. I have made sure that my firewall was open to the default smtp and imap ports.

However, I can't check my mail. I've tried using Mozilla Firebird to check it, and It keeps telling me "Could not connect to mail server ruby.xxxxxx.com. Connection was refused." When I SSH in to the capncrunch account on ruby and type "mail" into the command line, it tells me that I have no mail.

What have I missed?

OK. So after more than a day, the last e-mail I sent to the account, *did* actually bounce. Now what? Here's the e-mail:

Hello, I have the same problem with postfix, I'm able to send mails in a mailbox like mymail@gmail.com, but not to receive them!
And after a few hours I get this message:
