    Moving the "data" directory

    I'd like to know in which configuration file(s) I must change the datadir parameter value to move the "data" directory anywhere I want.

    Not quite sure I grasp your question... The data directory for what? An ftp server? Web server? Clarify please?

    I have to move the data directory somewhere else because my company wants mysql data and mysql software to be separated. For example, put the software in /usr/local/mysql and the data in /data on another partition.

    so... any idea?
