I have compiled and installed squid-2.5.STABLE1-2.
when I start it it shows no error.
but when I try to find status or try to stop it, it shows.......
ERROR: No ...

Abt Squid : No running copy
I have compiled and installed squid-2.5.STABLE1-2.
when I start it it shows no error.
but when I try to find status or try to stop it, it shows.......
ERROR: No running copy.
squid.pid is not generated after starting.
how to solve this ???

Most likely that the user that you have choosen to SUID when starting squid is not allowed to create the squid.pid file in your /var/run directory.
Try to start squid deamon as root and see if the problem persists.
