I would normally solve this problem two ways, either edit hosts files in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or get yourself a DNS server. These are the two ways I know of linking domain names to IPs. I realise this is probably more stuff that you wanted to do and there probably are easier ways due to the number of machines you have, but for futute developments I would recommend a DNS server.
The biggest security threat is the user.
