    it does indeed... and its called mysqld i belive...

    to make setting it up a bit easier, you could maybe try using webmin to configure it

    it is on the CD (8.1 at least), but im not sure that it is installed by default.

    If you cant find it on the CD, then the binaries can be downloaded from www.mysql.com
