    connection refused

Hey all, I'm having a bit of a problem getting apache to work. I installed it using the directions from When I start up apache (/www/bin/httpd or /www/bin/apachectl start) as root then type 'localhost' in my browser, I get connection refused. I ran netstat and found that httpd is listening on 8080 and that port is not in /etc/hosts.deny. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If apache is listening on port 8080, then you have to browse to http://localhost:8080/, since port 80 is the standard HTTP port.

to change it, edit your "httpd.conf", there will proberly be a line like "#port 80".

find it and uncomment it (remove the #"), so you have a line, without a #, that says "port 80".

    then run:
    apachectl restart

    open browser, navigate to localhost
