My linux server (SuSe 9.0) could be pinged from the windows desktops but they can't use any of it's services (HTTP, FTP, SSH ...)
i.e when they try to connect ...

Problem in connections
My linux server (SuSe 9.0) could be pinged from the windows desktops but they can't use any of it's services (HTTP, FTP, SSH ...)
i.e when they try to connect the http server they asked for a username and password with device realm.
there is no porblems with linux systems and ofcourse the same server.
Anybody has any ideas?

Have you got a firewall running on the box that is blocking the ports? Also check with your web server that the .htaccess file in the web directory is corrent to allow people to view the contents.
The biggest security threat is the user.

there is no firewalls set. and this I have this problem with ftp and all other services too. ofcourse when I boot these systems with linux I don't have this problem. So it doesn't have any problems with IPs
