I've been looking at policies or their equivalents in linux. I've found it hard to get answers but mainly you just work with security groups/ownerships and login scripts. On the other hand their are policies for restricitng KDE or so I believe - It is under Kiosk Policies. Maybe this link will help kdepolicies

i also think theres gnome eqivelant, but i found login scripts work if ye have to lock down a linux instalation. Also ye have to remeber users cant install there own software in to the system directories. They can install stuff in to there own home folder but they have to know how to(why linux makes an excelent business desktop).

    MS Exchange Server Equivalent

    Hi ProTrooper,

The nearest equivalent to exchange server is kolab, an MTA server for the Kontact email client. Kontact is like an equivalent to MS Outlook. Have a look at the website, kolab.org. Note that kolab and kontact are designed to run under the KDE environment. If you are looking for something to run under GNOME, try QMail or Sendmail. Neither of these have the calendar or contact management systems functionality like Exchange or Kolab do.

Yep, Kolab will be your best bet as far as server functionality is concerned and also for your system users, as kontact is a user friendly email client (better than most windows one's) and an easy way for them to get into using Linux.

    Hope this helps.

There are lots of groupware solutions out there, however I'd keep an eye on hula. The next big thing if you ask me.
