I keep getting the error message "Failed to find entry for user ..." when attempting to change the password for root/administrator.

Right now my issue is that I can not log in to a shared directory on the linux machine. I have in global: username map = /etc/samba/smbusers. Root is mapped to administrator and admin. But I can not log in from a Windows computer.

I assumed/hoped it was something as simple as just re-doing the password, i.e. smbpasswd command. But all that give me is the error message.

It seems that out of the box, new versions of Suse and Fedora really mess up Samba. I have never had this much work with older versions of Suse.
