pop3 server how to

hi im runing RH 9 i use it for my webserver and my email just changed over from windows NT, we have the web server and all that running but
me and a mate trying to set up emails we have accounts setup there
accepting mail , but useing my office outlook it says this error

Task mail - Receiving reported error (0x8004210

: Outlook is unable
to conect to your incomming (pop3) email server, if you continue to
receive this message,contact your server administrator or internet service
provider (ISP)

i have set my
incomeing mail server as (pop3) 192.168.1.x and my outgoing mail server (SMTP) 192.168.1.x

so is there someing i have left out or didnt do ? and i use webmin to set everything up with over my network

What pop3 daemon are you using? And do you have a valid acoount on the machine?

look in the maillogs, my guess is that it would be more specific than outlook

we are using sendmail ,and cant seem to configure sendmail for pop3
is it possible?, smtp is working, im new to linux and im lost alot of hair lol over seting up the emails , and yest i have a valid account on the sendmail

I'm pretty sure that sendmail is only for sending and not receiving (i.e.-pop3).

Deamons are in fact running?

Unable to connect could be just that the POP3Disnt running

without sounding like to much or a retard how do i get the pop3 server up and running ?

Yeh sendmail is only a MTA you need to get a pop3 daemon i use popa3d which you can download from openwall.
