Linux Web Server
I'd really like to set up my own web server to play around with on Linux. Can anyone give me some links or advice on setting one up. I'd really like to set up my own cpanel X so I can host multiple domains but have no clue how! Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I am no expert but I would install Debian Sarge with 2.6 kernel.
Dowload the net install cd the the Debian website.
Burn it and then boot to the cd you burned.
At the boot prompt I think you type "2.6" to get the 2.6kernel.
Follow the instructions then once you get the system installed you type
"apt-get update"
then
"apt-get install apache"
I have done this a few times with no problems.
Your webserver should now be up and running.

I'm trying to get my Fedora Core 4 install to work the way I know it should, but I've used other versions such as RH9 as a webserver and it's great. The distro will have pretty much everything you need, all you have to do is select for it to be installed. With FC4 it already has Apache, PHP, and MYSQL. All of the things you really need to have to begin your own basic webserver.

Is Cpanel X built into apache?

Cpanel X is something you have to pay for. Cpanel is made by a different company. There is an opensource alternitive to clanel which is VHCS which can be found here http://vhcs.net/new/ otherwise you could pay for cpanel here http://www.cpanel.net

And right now the new cpamel update has a bug in it.
It will tell you that you have a hard drive problem when there is nothing wrong.<advertising NOT allowed in signatures>
