    please help


    i have a basic apache server running and i type in /www/bin/apachectl start and it works fine and then i type in localhost into the web browser then i can check out my files but when i try it on another computer on my LAN it doesnt work and it says that it cant find the server. how can i configure it so i can get to it on another computer

    what are you typing at the other computers to try to access the web server. if you are typing in localhost that mite not work because there mite be more then one system on you lan with the host name localhost. either you should possible change the hostname or jst type in the ip of the computer that hosts the web site http://ip this should do it. and to find out the ip if you dont know is su over to root and then type in ifconfig. the ip that is under the device eth0 is the one you want. if this dont work let us know and i will see what i can come up with. hope this helps
