Hey, i'm running Red Hats Fedora Core 1. I developed a site for personal use and i've been trying to figure out for a few months how to get the link from http://24.239.147.210 to http://dednome.com. If i type in dednome.com on my box it works but on any other pc it doesn't work. Under system settings / server settings i see Domain Name Server. So is there a way for me to have dednome.com without registering it with some company where i'll have to pay? Thanks for any help in advance.

in short... No.
You need to register the domain name, and provide DNS servers on the Whois Record for the domain so that other hosts can resolve the IP address for the domain.

You can use a custom DNS with dyndns.org but it will cost you $20 one of payment and you can swap domain names to if you want to use another. I know you said you didnt want to pay but this would be the cheapest way.

You can also use the free service at dyndns.org and get something like dednome.no-ip.com.
