    Question Problem installing RHL 9.0 on Xeon 3.0 GHz EM64T processsor?

    Dear all,

    I have bought an IBM X226 with 160 GB SATA, XEON 3.0 Ghz EM64T processor. but i ma unable to install RHL 9.0 on that. can any one suggest me the reason it is not installing.

    Yes. RedHat 9 is an old distro - it dates from about 98/99, and hence has poor support for SATA hard disks.

    Try a newer distro, RHEL4 is the latest supported version from red hat in that sequence. You can also try CentOS which is community-suppored, based on the same code base, and is binary compatible with RHEL4.
