How do I install Samba?
I have just installed Mandrake 9.2, using only CD 1; I am also new to linux. I want to share the windows partitions on my 'new' linux machine with other windows machines on the network, and there is a message saying I need to install smb. I go to software manager, and search for samba but it is not found (nor is anything else). Please help...

Thank you for your response. (I actually found the same files on the CD image.) But..
When I went to install the server rpm there was a message about it not being installed "due to unsatisfied libacl.so.1" What do I do now?

Thank you - all installed now.
But when I come to modify /etc/smb.conf and then save it, I get a message saying I don't have permission to change it. Do I need to log in as something else? What do I do?

you will need to get su over to superuser/root to do this. this is the same for pretty much any config file on most systems

Thanks, got it working OK. Linux is new to me and a "bit" different to windows so I'll get there...
