Hi ,
I am Unable to start mysql Server , it displays Error Message
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

i dnt have the socket file with me , neither in /var/lib/mysql nor in /tmp folder ( Fedora 4 ) .
Earlier my sql used to work until i modified empty my.cnf file in order to provide remote access and when i followed procedure available on internet , it worked but when i rebooted the machine , it landed me on same place !!!

i even tried running
/usr/sbin/mysqld
but it too gave me error message 060615 10:03:09 [ERROR] Can't find messagefile '/usr/share/mysql/English/errmsg.sys'

although that file exists .

What shall i do , can anyone help ??????
