Serious email server prob........
kk... ima hopin someone can shed some light on this for me... Thanks in advance for all the help...
I have cable connecttion, 6 computers hooked up to a router with suse 9.2
prof on server.
One computer, in the closet, does nothing but run my website off of port 8001 and I want it to serve email.
I have a domain name with forwarding and http traffic is directed to my.ip.address:8001 and has bee working fine for over 3 years.
The 'server's' internal ip address is 192.169.1.9 and the host name of the machine is 'mydomain'
I have courier pop server and postfix installed.
The router forwards ports 110, 25 and 465 to 192.169.1.9 and 192.169.1.9 is also DMZ'd
When I log into my control panel with yy domain company, I see a box that says ' Forward all Email to this address: ' and then I type in my.ip.address ... right?
but when I send email to mydomail.com the mail get returneded with:
..and yes the user hawes exists... I have also tryed it with root.... sameReporting-MTA: dns; fed1rmmtao08.cox.net
Arrival-Date: Sat, 22 Jul 2006 20:54:57 -0400
Received-From-MTA: dns; [my.ip.address]
Final-Recipient: RFC822; <hawes@mydomain.com>
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1
Remote-MTA: dns; mx1c10.megamailservers.com (69.49.101.244)
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.1.1 <hawes@mydomain.com>... User unknown
when I set up and check root and users mail though my LAN using thunderbird.. everything works....
so my prob is I cannot send mail / or recieve mail sad.gif
wut can I try ?

maybe you shouldn't look at the message getting returned.. check ur postfix logs is all i can tell you.. cause if it comes up with fed1rmmtao08.cox.net .. then i'm assuming the domain is forwarded properly. gotta be somthin internal.
