problem between postfix and xp
I have a Mandriva2006 box with postfix installed on it. and everything is running smoothly. my workstations are a mixture of win2k and winxp pro. the problem that i have is that while the win2k clients connect to the server to dowload their mail fine, the xp machines take about 30 seconds to "send and recieve" and then they go thru, they don't get a time out, they just take long. i have done a tcpdump and check all the logs that i can think of but i don't see anything funny. if anyone could help i would really appreciate it.

Fixed
Nevermind i found the problem. It seems that the windows firewall tries to send packets out on port 113 for some weird reason. On the other forums, users were experiencing the same problem, but with ftp, the 30 sec delay.
This is what the firewall log said:
#Version: 1.5
#Software: Microsoft Windows Firewall
#Time Format: Local
#Fields: date time action protocol src-ip dst-ip src-port dst-port size tcpflags tcpsyn tcpack tcpwin icmptype icmpcode info path
2006-08-14 16:47:57 DROP TCP 192.168.0.3 192.168.0.229 33406 113 60 S 3219042087 0 5840 - - - RECEIVE
2006-08-14 16:48:03 DROP TCP 192.168.0.3 192.168.0.229 33406 113 60 S 3219042087 0 5840 - - - RECEIVE
so i just added an exeception to the XP firewall for port 113 and now it flies.
hope this helps some1 else that has the same problem in the future
cheers
