Samba - Asterix in filenames?
can i use * in filenames in samba?

i can create a file called test*ing on the xfs filesystem, but he can't via samba.
ive seen
mangle filenames = true
will that do the trick, or is more needed?

Not sure if it is possible; I just tried creating a folder with an * in the name from a Windows box and received an error. Sorry, but I cannot replicate your situation - we don't use Mac. Our Samba servers run Ubuntu 6.06 with the latest Samba packages, if that helps.
