Is there software that I can use on windows that will map UNIX/Linux NFS shares with permissions by logging onto the NIS?

Hi,

AFAIK NFS is only used between .nix machines.
For windows and NIX use SAMBA shares.

Sorry to be a arse and I thank you for your reply but there is software that will do the job (Hummingbird) on windows, I just wanted to know if there was a free alternative

You might be able to do it with cygwin. There is a version of mount that comes with that - I've never tried it with an nfs partition though; even if it works you may find that you have to mount the volume by hand (or use a logon/batch script to do it for you). Cygwin is free, you can get it here!
