Booting linux with root fs on windows nfs
any body tried out booting a linux machine over nfs, with a root fs on the windows xp nfs server....
i tried it and the system is mounting also... but it was throwing an error sying
"Warning : Unable to open an initial console"....
any thoughts... please share...
I wouldn't have thought this was possible unless you're using some kind of PXE boot?
To boot successfully from a local image, the system needs to be able to find both the kernel image (usually in /boot - so I take it that's local) and /etc/fstab so it can mount the correct filesystems...Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/
