help setting up apache
hello folks
I know a centos root password, and also have my own user on the machine. I can't physically access the machine. currently ftp is running on it.
when i connect using ftp to my account i saw public_html folder and i can place files etc there. what i need to do in order to able to view these files in browser, 2nd how to install/trobleshoot mysql. when i try to run mysql it gives
"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"

atlast after hit-n-trial now i have myself handled the above problems, so lets move on.
i have php 4.3.9. how can i upgrade it to 4.4.4 or the latest one.
2nd i want to run a 2nd mysql (5.1) currently its 4.x on same machine. and help here?

want an easy sollution... install xampp from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
includes everything... apache php mysql perl ...
