follow up on my virtual host

i have successfully created my virtual host. using the server, i can open http://www.mysite.com and http://test.mysite.com. however, when i use another workstation to open test.mysite.com, IE returns a Page Cannot Be Displayed error. Does this mean i have to add a CNAME in our DNS records? I hope somebody replies as soon as possible.

By the way, thanks to JLEDHEAD for helping me with the virtual host setup.

the best way to find out is to try and ping test.mysite.com and if it comes up with nothing then you need to add an entry in dns for it.

thanks again. well i've tried that already and got nothing that's why i was thinking of adding it to our DNS records. this is another problem for me now. if i'll be asking our ISP to add the CNAME in our DNS records, which they have, i guess it will take time. i have to contact this person and that person and things like that. i am about to leave our company and they asked me to do this before i go. now i'm thinking, can i just set up a new DNS server for us (with a public IP, i.e. 202.x.x.x) and put the records there? i've been looking for DNS tutorials but i just can't seem to find one that could help me put a DNS server. are there any prerequisites in installing DNS servers? after i set it up, what are the next things that i have to do? any tutorials, suggestions, and recommendations? thanks in advance...

by the way, i will be using fedora core 6 as a platform if i will be setting up a DNS server...
