I have struggled all day to get this to work. Nautilus can connect to smb://192.168.1.100 and smb://hostname/sharename, but not just smb://hostname. What could cause this? Please help me. I'm sooo tired of this annoying little problem. As long as this problem persists I cannot browse my local network in the house.

I think I've pretty much tried everything possible, but please help me point out if there's something important I have overseen.
