We are about to set up a web server on linux/apache however we also have clients with ASP sites that we need to cater for as well, the server we will be bringing into service will have dual hard drives,
My question is this which is the best way to have predomainant linux
but be able to run ASP sites as well, is it an option to have one drive
with Linux and one drive with Win2k or is there way we can run ASP in a Unix environment with something like Apache::ASP
I will be having a sys admin setting up the server but prior to employing someome to do the job i want to gain a bit of a understanding as to the best path to look at to accomplish our needs.
I don't see any reason for having Winbloze installed as well. What would you be using that for, if the server is going to run Linux anyway?
Anyhow, I know for sure that there is an ASP module for Apache, and I think it works really well, so running ASP should not be a problam. However, I don't know either the project's name or where to find it. Do search for it, but if you can't find it, just report back and I'll do my best.
Thanks Head Guru
Thankyou for your comments
apache::ASP is available from cpan
chillisoft provide ASP systems for Unix/linux
You have to realize that a lot of companies that still run either Windows NT or Window 2000 server are not ready to make that transfer over to Linux for several reasons. One of them is the lack of knowledge and the other is the being satisified with those OS'. Having used IIS on Windows 2000 Server, I think Apache will always dominate over it but not all people think like the way we do.
Yeah, but he did say that they were going to set up Linux/Apache servers.
My apologies. I guess this is the price I pay for skimming through a post.
