ok what's a good and big container? is longblob ok enough? i'm confused by text and blob. the manual statest that's there's only minimal differences. i chose blob. and i'm under the impression that blob and text don't require length specifications and that they go on variable length by default unless you specify it to be of fixed length. is this correct?
Yes you are correct they will be as long as the data you insert into them. If you have just a large text documet you should use TEXT or CLOB. BLOB should be used for storing large byte strings. You can specify a length of TEXT or BLOB if you want IIRC its
