Diskless Linux server with clients in a lab environment
I am going to set up a diskless linux server to serve diskless clients. Most of the people in the lab try to break the windows xp machines, so we have Fortrs 101 installed on them. Since most of the diskless OS is read-only, is there a way to automatically restore the backup of the read-write (snapshot) directories to clear out changes? (ex. 3am) I was thinking a script or program of sorts. Ideas?
Also, the server will probably be a p3-650mhz box runing CentOS 4.0 with 128-256 mb RAm. the clients are p2-400s with 64-128mb ram. Good or bad? OpenOffice and Mozilla Firefox mostly.
