I want to run a Exchange server on my Linux server.
How would i go through to do this?
Do i use something like SyncML? think it was that i heard was for linux

Exchange server is a Microsoft tool, intended for use on proprietary servers. Are you sure you want to run this on Linux? If you're doing this commercially and you have a large email service to provide, then it may justify the expense.
Otherwise, you can recreate something similar using an email transport system (Sendmail, Postfix etc.), a POP/IMAP front end (I use Dovecot, but there are some others around) and maybe a web email reading tool such as Squirrelmail.
If you need the calendaring, look into setting up a CalDAV server. You can get tools for Thunderbird that add an integrated calendar (Sunbird is the one that springs to mind), or you could just use the Evolution mail client which also does both mail and calendars.
I know a few years ago that SuSE had a tool that worked similarly to Exchange, but was written for open platforms (esp. SuSE Linux Enterprise) but I cannot remember what it was called, and I don't know what state it's in now.
egroupware may be what you need. I believe the Suse tool is called open exchange
