I have a SLES9.1 server (local intranet system) with exim installed, iam trying to send mails to hotmail, yahoo, etc.... but in vain
mail -v firstname.lastname@example.org
<= root@sles U=root P=local S=409 id=41CBD9C8.mailE2M11DQTH@sles
sles:/etc/exim # LOG: MAIN
** email@example.com: Unrouteable address
<= <> R=1ChlFY-0004kB-TC U=mail P=local S=1157
LOG: MAIN PANIC
User 0 set for local_delivery transport is on the never_users list
== root@sles R=localuser T=local_delivery defer (-29): User 0 set for local_delivery transport is on the never_users list
exim is running and 127.0.0.1 line in /etc/exim.conf is commented. I am not getting any mails in my hotmail account and above is the logs.
It is quite possible that Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. are unable to do a reverse DNS lookup on your server (which they require), so they are rejecting your emails. If you are running this off your residential 'net connection, you are probably SOL, since the only way to get reverse DNS enable is by your ISP, who would probably not take kindly to you running a server....
