mod_unique_id not found
I am trying to get Apache to work. I choose to install it when I installed RHL and I have enabled it in the runlevel 3 and 5.
When booting RH Apache does not start and this is the error I find in the logs
[Wed Jun 18 06:30:08 2003] [alert] (22002)Name or service not known: mod_unique_id: unable to find IPv4 address of "rhl01"
I have configured Apache with the httpd tool. I specified the IP address as the servername
When I try to start httpd manually (./httpd start)
I get the following error
Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 116 of /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf:
SSLCertificateFile: file '/etc/httpd/conf/ssl.crt/server.crt' does not exist or is empty
its looking for a SSL certificate...how did you compile apache? did you
give any ssl command line options?
I chose Apache as one of the install options when I installed Linux. I did not modify anyting
do you have anything like this in your httpd.conf file:
or anything similar to the above?
do a search for ssl.conf and just hash the corresponding line and then
restart your apache..
As for mod_unique_id, do you really need it? If not, just comment out the module inclusion line to make it go away.
I have uncommented the mod_unique lin the script but I can't see anything that refers to mod_ssl
After manual restarting httpd I got a few errors in ss.conf so I uncommented them too
$ /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start
Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 124 of /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf:
SSLCertificateKeyFile: file '/etc/httpd/conf/ssl.key/server.key' does not exist or is empty
Now I am not sure why it is doing this. I don't need and I did not specify it when installing Linux
After uncommenting the previous errors I restarted again and enden up with the following error
Starting httpd: (13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down
There is no pattern found for SSL in httpd.conf
What security level did you choose on install?? It looks like you dont have permissions to bind a socket or something. Try to stop iptables and ipchains and try to start httpd again like this...
You aren't trying to start it as a normal user, are you? It needs to be started as root.
Still no luck.
I was logged on as root. Stopped iptables as well
I get the message that httpd failed during start up. I get the same error when I manually want to start it.
I decided that it was probably the best to uninstall it but it won't let me and as per usual I am not sure why but I'll address that in a new post
I have uninstalled apache and reinstalled throug add/remove and left out some files such as mod_ssl,mod_python
It installed succesfully but when I want to start the service manually or throught rh-config services it cannot start. All I get is a "failed" message. Never had a problem with installing apache on my freebsd box.
I was wondering if the httpd gui had something to do with it as it looks like there are some big spaces in the conf file so I uninstalled/installed everything again and manually edited the conf file. Still doesn't work
Tried to add it to the runlevels and I get : stopping httpd[failed] starting httpd[failed]
