newbie needs help

I just started working with linux and i have decided to start a web server using Fedora Core 3 along with apache 2.

i download the 2002 frontpage extensions and install file. I ran the file and followed the steps. It said it was installed. But when i try to upload a site it says i can't do it because fronpage extensions do not exist. I followed the steps from

I stopped at Installing a Root Web and Subwebs for the First Time.

I dont understand where to go to next. Can someone help or tell me of any great web sites that have step by step or great walkthoughs. Eventually i plan on have virtual hosts, PHP, MySQL, and OpenSSL.

But right now i just want to upload my website to the server.

If you just need to upload your site, try setting up a FTP server such as ProFTPD, it may already of came with FC3, iv never used fedora im not 100% sure 8)
