qmail on 200MHZ, 64MB RAM!?
Can I run a qmail server on a 200MHZ, 64MB Ram machine?
This machine is already my local name server, dhcp server and samba master browser.
At this time it works like a charm, but I don't know if with qmail running it won't be too much!
I know that it is not a good idea ti have all services at the same system but this is like a test to see how far linux can go :)
Thanks in advance...
I used qmail for about a year..now trying PostFix
There are so many qmail patches, and fixups..its hard to keep them straight. Ask 10 qmail admins a question, and you'll get 10 different answers. ( And 9 will usually be right :)
qmail works, its secure and fast..but I dont like that it seems to be falling behind. Or seems to be. ( ala 1001 patches)
If your just starting out now...I would recommend Postfix...
BTW, installing qmail, getting it to work, with all the tools, spam, antivirus, and addons, and not being an open relay..its a real piece of work.
But if you insist on using qmail....install via the instructions at
BTW, dont ever criticize qmail, or you'll be ostracized by other qmail admins...
