Running Oracle Forms on a web server
I've recently joined a new company as an Oracle Developer. They have just a few forms which they use. The snag is, each user runs the forms in runtime mode on his/her PC. I have in my care an IBM X235 server, on which I installed Suse and have it on the network. What I want to do next is, install some kind of a web server daeman (Apache??) to host the forms. Problem is, I have no idea how to go about doing this.
Can anybody provide help or links on how to go about doing this? At my previous company I worked for.....we had our forms running on a web server on we used IE to access them, but I was not involved at all in the server administration and did'nt know how it was done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oracle application server
peace be upon you from allah
your problem will be solved when u use the oracle application server
in which it is composed of two parts:
the first part is the web server that handle the user requests and download the java applets to the user
and the second part is the runtime enviroment for the forms
the oracle application server handles both and you can install the application server for forms and reports only not the whole components
and you easily manage the server through the OEM (oracle enterprise manager)
and as a note (after the installation of the oracle application server)
where this is the file that is used to configure the appliaction server
every thing is well commented and the syntax is very easy and logical
and also you may want to review the default.env file
i wish u the best of the best
by the way you can find the installation guide by downloading the pdf file on the following link
sorry for writing too mush
but i hope that u will do it fine :)
