Samba >4GB file move issue
First post so apologies if I miss any important details here - just let me know what may help. I was going to try the samba mailing list but it seems too arduous...
I have a Debian server running a custom 22.214.171.124 kernel and samba 3.4.7. It has a number of ext3 drives mounted to one directory on the ext3 root drive, and this directory is shared. Essentially, the separate drives appear to the client as folders. I am connecting to the server via XP/Vista/Win7 (all exhibit the same problem, i've had it for years).
I can copy >4GB files from a client to the server fine. I can even copy >4GB files from one folder to another fine. Doing this shows a normal progress indicator with speed/time remaining (seems to copy the file across the LAN back to the server).
However, I cannot move (cut/paste) a >4GB file from one drive/directory on the server to another. Doing this shows a still (stopped) progress indicator then once the target file hits 4GB in size the copy fails. Doing this with a file <4GB shows the same (stopped) progress indicator however the file moves fine. This appears to move the file directly on the server (no LAN traffic).
It seems like a large file bug in samba, and ive spent about 4 hours looking for info this morning but nothing seems to explain this problem directly.
