Sendmail Problem

I recieve this error everytime I try to send mail remotely. It works fine otherwise. I can send mail on telnet or ssh. I don't know what the problem could possibly be. Any ideas?

the server may not allow remote mail sending - they do it as security - there should be an option to override it somewhere, though im not sure where, i dont run sendmail
