I'm hoping you can help me. My company has people all over the country and we need a central file repository. I would prefer to not use a VPN (so samba is out) and allows everyone to connect to a central server over an encrypted connection. I had imagined a WebDAV server running over SSL that would allow me to set permissions on each folder and maybe even do versioning (not required). An open source solution would be great, but it doesn't have to be. Essentially, I just need a fileserver that can be accessed with desktop clients that doesn't require a VPN. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. Thanks!
p.s. Using Apache's webdav functionality isn't an option, there is very limited capability for setting folder permissions.
