Firefox - fontconfig problems

Hello everyone,

having some problems with Firefox on Slackware 10.2. When launched it prints (either on an xterm or a tty):

Code:
Fontconfig warning: line 32: unknown element "cachedir"
Fontconfig warning: line 33: unknown element "cachedir"
Fontconfig error: "conf.d", line 1: no element found
Also, when accessing a site containing Flash (if it's installed), it invariably crashes in a few seconds, printing:

Code:
/usr/lib/firefox/run-mozilla.sh: line 131:  2169 Segmentation fault      "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
The problem is probably with fontconfig, which I wasn't able to configure properly, due to the somewhat lacking documentation

Any pointers would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
