Also important, what application are you using with the camera?
And, what groups are you a member off (You don't need to post this, but check this for yourself nontheless) as webcam problems can be permission related. It could very well be that the device is already working, but your permissions are not set up correctly to use it.[/quote]
Here's the output from lsusb:
Code:
bash-3.1# lsusb
Bus 1 Device 4: ID 046d:08c1 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 1 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 3 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 4 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 2 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 5 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
By the way, sometimes dmesg reads this:
Code:
bash-3.1# dmesg |tail
3:3:3: cannot set freq 16000 to ep 0x86
SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with 00:14:6c:42:ab:4e
usb 1-3: USB disconnect, address 3
usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
usb 1-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

uvcvideo: Failed to initialize the device (-5).

But if I unplug the camera and plug it back in, it displays what I posted before.
I've added myself to the audio and video groups, but I'm not sure if there are others I should be in (and I've tried as root). This hasn't changed anything that I'm aware of. I've tried using kopete, ekiga, and skype, and all of these say there is no device found.
Thanks for the help.
