hal & twelve

so i installed kubuntu to check hal stuff and hal works perfectly. i checked groups nd my groups were s follows: adm, dialout, cdrom, floppy, audio, dip, video, plugdev, scanner, lpadmin, admin, netdev, and finally powerdev. im reinstalling slack twelve (possibly several times to get my resolution set up) then i will try being in those groups if it works then it shall help all otherwise too bad

i found tht when adding a new user and using the adduser commandnot the useradd command it works, however you have to join some or all of the following (i joined all of these groups)
adm cdrom floppy audio video plugdev scanner
to do this wait for the prompt 'add user to other groups' (or something like that, the one after 'default group')
