Question no "su root" possible
Hi,

What could be the reason that I cannot su to root ??? The password is definitely the right one, I checked it also by typing it as a command in cli in cleartext, and if I completely log off and log in as root it works, but logging in as user and then su to root - not working. ?

Post the contents of your /etc/pam.d/su file.

I'm guessing that you haven't added yourself to the 'wheel' group.

my guess is that "su" defaults as root. try just "su" then enter your root password. if you had a user named johndoe, to "switch to user" would be "su johndoe" other than that "su" alone switches the user to root.
