hi i want to know if i can insert a cd in my dvdrom and then it automatically mounted and konqueror opens its contents

why don't you try to edit your /etc/fstab file ?look here :

You'll need to recompile the kernel with supermount support. Doing it in /etc/fstab won't work and may make your system unbootable(uncertain but seems reasonable). Reason being when fstab is called during boot, all disks labled to auto mount will be mounted. If there is no cd in the disk, mount will fail.

he will only get an error message if the mount process fail...i don't think that system won't boot or have a serious problem with that..

My main point was that automounting a removable media drive in /etc/fstab won't accomplish the OP's goals. He'll need either Supermount or Magicdev.
