It doesn't save your connection? So you have to type in everything manually?

Well, I wouldn't know what front end does what. I'm running an older version of Slackware, that does not have these graphical front ends. I connect through scripts run from the command line, which I like because I don't trust my machine to decide when I want to connect and where. So sorry, I can't help you there.

For any of the other problems you are facing, you can better start a new thread. I'm sure there's a solution.

Once you establish a connection you can manually add the connection info to /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf this file is used during boot up by the system to connect to the internet.
