You could check out NTP to see if it will meet your needs:

ntp.org: Home of the Network Time Protocol

I have a cron entry synching my clock once a day...

/usr/sbin/ntpdate 132.163.4.101;/sbin/hwclock --systohc

132.163.4.101 is time-a.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov

I just have a cron job do:

/usr/sbin/ntpupdate pool.ntp.org 1>> /var/log/messages

Run it about once an hour. Your log will show you your drift, and then you can adjust how often you use it.
