hi guys,
I actually downloaded the ISo,md5 & asc files for cd1,2,3,4 of slackware 9.1.

a.anybody knows whichs files should be burned on each Cds?
b. is it possible to burn all on DVD?does it work like that?
c.I've go windows,how should I start installation?

You can check this HowTo for the steps to properly burning ISO files to disk as images, then booting with it:

Each ISO file should be burned as an image to a separate disk.

You need the DVD ISO file if you want to burn to a DVD installation disk.

After properly burning the ISO files to disk, set your machine to boot from the CD/DVD drive first, put the newly created installation disk in the drive and reboot the machine. Booting the install disk is covered in the link I posted above.

any reason for using slack 9.1? They are up to Slack 13 now, you will probably have better hardware support

In addition to what coopstah says above, I'm not even sure there was a DVD image available for version 9.1, but you could put each image on separate DVD disks if your burner doesn't handle regular CD disks.

Definitely go for a later version if you can.

well,
yeah,the problem is that I gotta run a software which gcc 3.2.1 is its pre-requisite;unfortunately I tried gcc 3.2.1 on different linux but it doesnt work;I was advised by somebody which it will sort out if I run it on slackware 9.1

hi guys,
I started installing slackware, but it hangs in first Cd without any error message.
even when it didnt ask me in which location,i prefer to be installed.
any ideas?comment?

Does this mean you have your BIOS set to boot from CD, boot the computer up with your Slackware install CD in the drive and just get a blank screen? Or what? Does anything else happen, does the install start at all?

my laptop is : hp paviliondv6000

well,it goes through the installation,
asking about selecting Kernel,then a lot of text come such as freeing memory,usb hub ,etc.
then it shows '' ehci-hcd 00.1d.7: usb 2.0 enabled,EHCI 1.00, driver 2003-jun-19/2.4'' and get stock there!!!
even I left it for 1hour,but didn't go further...
what you say??

You might have difficulty getting it to run and install if you have hardware that is newer than slack 9.1 might expect.
