No midi for nvsound and intel8x0 at A7N8X-X mobo

Maybe it's the the taste the have all my hardware working.
Midi player it's not a mandatory item for me but it's kind os frustrating trying to play some midi files in my SLACKWARE 10.1 and Kernel 2.4.

I have a ASUS A7N8X-X with nforce sound integrated.

At first ALSA detected my sound as INTEL8X0.

In my attempt of play midi I've installed the nforce audio driver and edited the module.conf to load the nvsound module since the ALSACONF did'nt detected my sound card anymore.

The sound is working properly (even better than before) by I couldn't any midi module yet.

Here is the modules I have running:

Quote:
Module Size Used by Tainted: P
parport_pc 15044 1 (autoclean)
lp 6404 0 (autoclean)
parport 22824 1 (autoclean) [parport_pc lp]
usb-ohci 19368 0 (unused)
ehci-hcd 17516 0 (unused)
usbcore 58860 1 [usb-ohci ehci-hcd]
nvsound 1462656 0
soundcore 3396 2 [nvsound]
nvidia 3642396 6
ide-scsi 9392 0
agpgart 45092 3
apm 9452 2
When I try to run Kmidi an error message "could not open dev/sequencer" apear.

Some people told to install timidity but first I want to try making my hardware playing midi files instead of a "midi emulator".

What the hell if the Windows XP play midi files with the same hardware ??

Does this happen only with MIDI files or you can't just listen to anything?
