The same issue in Mandriva LE 2005, also using Firefox 1.0.7. Can't figure it out.

Weird that sound works perfectly for flash in Firefox under Gnome but won't work at all in KDE.

Do you have a library called swfdec on your Gnome/Slackware distro? I think this is the Flash animation rendering library. Not sure if this is supplied with a KDE environment, or if 'rendering' includes a sound library.

KDE sounds

Maybe this can help?

http://www.kde-forum.org/thread.php?threadid=9068

For myself, I use Mozilla (in KDE), at first I had no sound. I solved it (in Debian) typing:

Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure mozilla-browser
and by choosing "artsds" as sound output... ("auto" doesn't work for me)

In Linux I really thing mozilla-browser + mozilla-psm is working a lot better than plain mozilla-firefox.

Igot mine just working (under mandriva 2006.1) by starting firefox with following command:
Code:
 artsdsp mozilla-firefox
Try if it works.

As far as I got it right this should simply reroute the sound from firefox to arts-soundserver.
