Panzer General I

I have 1 GB physical RAM.
BIOS shows = 1048576 Kilobyte = 1024 Megabyte = 1 Gigabyte
Slackware 10.2 shows = 904496 kilobyte = 883 Megabyte

1024 - 883 = 140

Where is my 140 Megabyte?
How can i fix this?

You might have to compile a kernel with HIMEM support, but I thought that was only for machines over 1GB of system RAM.

yes, you need to recompile your kernel with the HIMEM 4GB option in order to utilize anything over 883MB. If you need help with that task, feel free to ask or search the forums.

I've got the same problem, although I have 1.5GB of RAM on my slackbox. I think it shows about 940MB or something close (it might actually show 904 like you have).

Anyways, is this a simple task, to recompile with HIMEM support? I have a stock 10.2 full install on my box. I have added a few apps and an nvidia driver, but other than that, very vanilla. I didn't want to try this a few months ago, as this was my main system, but since then I haven't been using it as much, so if this is fairly simple, I could see doing a quick recompile and access this other half a gig I have gone without...
